Rugby and a Trip to Las Vegas

Hi guys!

Yep, I was gone for a week and where else would I go????  RUGBY!  Which just happened to be in Las Vegas.  NO!  I've never been there before.  Have you???

I had to go.  tee hee hee.  This was a tournament of the top dogs.  The world of rugby is tough to figure out when you don't really know anyone else involved in it.  There are so many leagues.  Then there's the 2 different (I think there's actually 3) types of teams.  7 on a team or 15 on a team.  7's are fast, short games (7 minute halves) played with only 7 players on a team.  15's are full length games (40 minute halves) with, yep, 15 players on a team.  Each is played on the same size field.  Full sized.  7's are my "drug" of choice.

This tournament involved 16 teams from around the world with some of the top players in rugby.  FUN!  Our U.S. Eagles took 4th place in this tournament.  They played GREAT all weekend.  Click on this line to get to their website for more information.  At the same time, right next door, was a tournament for top amateur rugby teams.  Our local Seattle Serevi team was there and took their tournament.  WAY TO GO GUYS!  I only got to watch 2 games, but you were amazing ... as always!

Seattle Serevi line out.

We had record weather.  O.M.G.  After drowning in Everett, WA for the past several months it was AWESOME to get sunshine and 60 degree weather to wake up too each day.  I'm not a gambler so I spent a lot of time, in the evenings, hanging out in a sports bar watching 20 PLUS TV's with tons of hockey on.  HOG HEAVEN is what I call that.  Free drinks, thanks to my new friends I met there.

Check out 2 of my drinks.

Blushin' Jasmine - yes, the orchid is edible.
YUM!

The Frozen Margarita that came with my
excellent Mexican dinner.

I spent 3 days at the rugby fields, 1 day downtown, 1 day at the movies, 1 day at the spa and pool.  OH MY!  If only I could afford to do that once a month.  Just think of the great mental therapy this would be.  LOL!

Did I gamble?  Well, once.  How did I do?  tee hee hee!  I bet on 2 hockey games .... yep!  They both won and so did I ... thanks guys!  That's enough betting for me.

How about a few pictures I took from the weekend?  You have to realize the crowds are crazy fun.  Ready?

Sam Boyd Stadium, Las Vegas, NV.

Our U.S. Eagles starting lineup.

Danny Barrett ... my fav!

The ball.

The stadium.  OH!  And check out that score.

U.S. -vs- RSA ... my "other" favorite team.

How about a few pics of the fans???

I brought the 12's flag hoping to get it on the screen.
HA!  I guess they don't like the hawks.

2 baby bees and their "keepers".  These guys were so FUN!

Muppets!

AND .... I have to find a lady about a pair of earrings.  They are gorgeous.  She was a vendor at a cutting horse event going on in the horse arena at my hotel.

I think the earrings will go great with a necklace
I bought a few years ago in Mexico.

I learned a few things on this trip.

FIRST:  Don't believe every thing the hotels tell you when you make reservations.  You are only getting a 1-800 #.  Call the hotel directly and make them answer your questions with "proof".  That's what the internet and instant email answers are all about.

SECOND:  Get a "real" camera.  While a fun, nice digital camera works, a 35mm digital is the answer!

THIRD:  No matter what happens on your trip ,,, just go with the flow!

BTW:  On one trip to the field I found a scrap yard.  YEP!  If they have this event again next year ... I'm going!  I just have to see what they call scrap.  OH ... I've got my fingers crossed!!!

I love going places and finding other goodies and events going on that I didn't know would be there.  I had a ball.  I had mimosas with my pedicure.  I had coffee and Bailey's in the mornings with my bagel.  I had drinks at night while watching hockey.  These are things I never do.  I believe that's what vacations and trips are all about .... doing things you normally don't get to do.

I hope you find the time to take a wonderful vacation this year.  It can be more like my normal trips ... a day or two in the mountains fishing.  OR, maybe a fun trip like this one.  Just go have fun and do something out of your ordinary.

Take care and thanks for stopping by!  Shell
